The division KSC Controller Systems of German broadcast systems integrator BFE has delivered two KSC CORE systems to Italian public service broadcaster RAI. The company’s Italian partner PR.IN.CO sealed the deal, following a formal bid of RAI and after working closely together with BFE in commercial and technical aspects. The systems have been shipped early July.

KSC CORE is a highly available, adaptable control and monitoring system for fast and flexible control of the entire broadcast chain in all areas: planning, contribution, production, playout and distribution.

The two KSC CORE installations will be at the center of the flight case systems FLY 6 and FLY 7, built as mobile production units for the production centers of Saxa Rubra, Studio 3 and Nomentano 5. The systems mark the first entirely IP-based production units of RAI and are part of a proof of concept, ultimately resulting in rebuilding the Nomentano Production Center with IP technology.

BFE and the KSC team had to work on a tight schedule to set up and deliver the systems within the agreed time-frame. The implementation is expected to be completed in summer.
