Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament receives state-of-the-art media technology from BFE

he historic Deutschhaus in Mainz - for more than 60 years the seat of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate - is undergoing fundamental renovation in order to continue to meet the needs of the approximately 35,000 visitors per year as well as the requirements for fire protection and barrier-free access.

An essential part of the project is the equipping of the building with the latest media technology for the members of parliament, the employees of the building and of course the numerous visitors.

The main requirement of the overall technical concept is the provision of a future-proof technical infrastructure, with the help of which high-resolution moving images in 4K and with a high dynamic range (HDR) can be implemented and are easily scalable. Also of decisive importance is the implementation of suitable interfaces to the production system of Südwestrundfunk, which ensures reporting from the state parliament as part of its public service remit.

The core of the solution to be implemented is an Extron signal management system. Software specialists from BFE are responsible for the technical programming implementation of the project-specific adaptations. Four wired discussion units with a total of 130 Brähler delegate microphone units will be connected. This solution is supplemented by 70 wireless conference systems from Shure. The central component for the distribution of the audio signals is an audio matrix with 256x256 crosspoints. The high-quality recording of the moving image material is ensured by 11 UHD cameras from Panasonic. Six laser projectors with 8,000 ANSI lumens and ten high-resolution 4K displays in 55 and 65-inch formats, also from Panasonic, provide the corresponding visualization. Another important component of the solution is the digital visitor guidance system with 10 digital door signs and info displays. The overall concept is rounded off by control room and media furniture, which is manufactured according to individual design specifications in the BFE workshops.

"We are very pleased to be able to contribute our technical expertise in the field of media technology, supplemented by our many years of experience in the implementation of multimedia production systems, to this important project," reports Jürgen Loos, Director of Sales at BFE Studio und Medien Systeme GmbH.
